Employee Relations Advisor (Unionised Site)

Keeping an open-cast mine in Gqeberha fair, legal and well staffed is the heart of this job. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is an open-cast mine on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Handle grievances with notes, dates and a clear written outcome.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.

• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
