Job Description

Your subject, your classroom and learners who need you to believe in them: that's this faith-based independent school in Rosslyn. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Rosslyn, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

  • Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
  • Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP
  • Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
  • Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
  • Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
  • Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
  • Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers

You'll need

  • Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
  • You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
  • Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
  • Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
  • A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach

On offer

  • School holidays in line with the school calendar
  • Paid SACE CPTD workshops
  • Housing allowance for SGB and state-funded posts where it applies
  • Fee discount for your own children at independent schools
