Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward)

Here you help people wash, eat, move and heal, at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Polokwane. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Polokwane, Limpopo. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate

• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Uniform supplied

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
