Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a home-based care agency in Richards Bay, working alongside registered nurses. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a home-based care agency in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient

• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Uniform supplied
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
