Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

Your care keeps residents at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Boksburg safe, clean and comfortable through the day. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Boksburg, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting

• Uniform supplied
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
