Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

Your care keeps residents at a retirement village frail care centre in Pretoria West safe, clean and comfortable through the day. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a retirement village frail care centre on the Pretoria West side of Gauteng. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient

• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent

• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
