Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a retirement village frail care centre in Tzaneen, working alongside registered nurses. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Tzaneen. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse

• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Uniform supplied
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
