Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

Here you help people wash, eat, move and heal, at a hospice in-patient unit in Worcester. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Worcester-based, with most of your time spent at a hospice in-patient unit. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered

• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Uniform supplied
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
