Job Description

You'll make safety real on the ground at the mineral processing plant near Pretoria West, not just on paper. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is Pretoria West-based, with most of your time spent at a mineral processing plant. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee

What you need

Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification

Nice if you have

Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
Mine rescue training
Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health
