Estate Housekeeper (Large Home)

A family in Midrand wants someone they can trust with their large estate home and their children. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Midrand; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Good with children and patient

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
