Estimator (Tenders & Pricing) – Fixed-Term

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the property development company in Alberton. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Alberton. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses

• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Study support for an honours degree
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
