Estimator (Tenders & Pricing)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Springs. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Springs, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
