Tiler (Floors & Wet Areas)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the housing development site in Krugersdorp. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Krugersdorp; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside

• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
