Evening Turndown Housekeeper

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a city business hotel in Cape Town CBD. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a city business hotel. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
