Event Security Steward (Stadium) – Fixed-Term

Residents and staff at a private school campus in Kariega need to feel safe when they arrive; that is your job. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Kariega-based, with most of your time spent at a private school campus. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clean criminal record
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Physically fit for foot patrols

• First-aid Level 1 certificate
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Provident fund contributions
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
