Job Description

The gate at a gated residential estate in Komani is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a gated residential estate on the Komani side of Eastern Cape. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

The work, day to day

Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events

What you need

Physically fit for foot patrols
Alert, polite and firm with the public
Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
Clean criminal record

Helpful, not essential

Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
First-aid Level 1 certificate
Firefighting or evacuation training

On offer

Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
