Excavator Operator (20-Ton, Bulk Earthworks)

The quarry and aggregate supplier in Springs needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a quarry and aggregate supplier in Springs. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off

• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Refresher training on new machines
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites

• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
