Health and Safety Manager (Construction)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this municipal infrastructure project in Soweto. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time

• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight

• Fall protection planner training
• Diploma in Safety Management
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
