Excavator Operator (Open Cast Mine)

Operators at this contract mining company near Johannesburg CBD keep the ore moving from face to crusher. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The work is in Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine

• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations

• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Machine training instructor experience
