Instrumentation Mechanician (Processing Plant)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the platinum mine engineering department near Germiston. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Germiston, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines

• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
