Factory Hand (Bottling Plant)

Good factory hands stay for years, and this industrial bakery in Durban Central trains from day one. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Durban Central, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• Some basic first-aid training
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
