Farm General Worker (Vegetable Fields) – Entry Level

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a vegetable farm near Thohoyandou through the season. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a vegetable farm on the Thohoyandou side of Limpopo. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown

• Available for the full harvest season
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Valid ID or work permit

• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
