Job Description

Big machines, long days in season: a wheat farm near Potchefstroom needs a skilled operator. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Potchefstroom; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting

You'll need

Basic understanding of implements and settings
Reliable and sober on duty
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Available to live on or near the farm

Helpful, not essential

Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
Basic mechanical skills
A pesticide application or spray course

What you get

Farm housing with water and electricity
Training on new machinery
Harvest bonus at season end

Applying, step by step

Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): tractor or spray course certificates plus ID copy and any driver's licence you hold.
Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 8 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Potchefstroom.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
A reference from a previous farmer is gold. Ask for it before you leave any farm job.
