Financial Accountant (Manufacturing)

An agricultural co-operative in Soweto needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at an agricultural co-operative. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks

• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT

• CIMA qualification for management accounting posts
• Consolidation experience across several companies
• Completed articles at an audit firm
