Job Description

This low-cost housing developer in Mahikeng needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Mahikeng; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

  • Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
  • Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
  • Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
  • Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
  • Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages

Must-haves

  • Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
  • National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
  • Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
  • Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites

On offer

  • Project completion bonus linked to handover date
  • Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
  • Cellphone and laptop supplied

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Mahikeng really suit you before you apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): two references from project managers you worked under plus certified copy of your ID.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 7 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Mahikeng.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
  • A common mistake is listing only company names. Say what you built, for example "32 walk-up flats, 3 storeys".
