Job Description

You'll keep machines turning and parts in spec at the sugar mill in Mogwase. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Mogwase; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What you'll actually do

  • Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
  • Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
  • Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
  • Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
  • Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
  • Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds

Must-haves

  • You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
  • At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
  • Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
  • Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
  • Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
  • Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set

On offer

  • Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
  • Shift and standby allowances
  • Paid overtime on shutdowns
