Fitter (Underground Engineering)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the coal mine engineering workshop near Kimberley. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Kimberley (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Housing support in the mining town
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
