Fixed Asset Accountant (Mining) – Fixed-Term

Month-end, year-end and audit prep all run through you at an agricultural co-operative in Brits. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at an agricultural co-operative in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Prepare the audit file and answer auditor queries
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads

• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
