Fleet Administrator (Licences and Services) – Experienced

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a distribution depot in Khayelitsha, that could be you. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a distribution depot in Khayelitsha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• Good with Excel and email
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics

• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Growth to transport manager
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
