Fleet Administrator (Licences and Services)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a bus and coach operator in Mbombela, that could be you. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Mbombela, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Good with Excel and email
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Matric
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

• Previous truck driving experience
• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
