Fleet Tracking Controller (Night Shift)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in Mahikeng, that could be you. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a road freight company in Mahikeng. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Good with Excel and email
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
