Job Description

You'll run local delivery routes around Brits for a building-supplies merchant, dropping 10 to 20 stops a day. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a building-supplies merchant on the Brits side of North West. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

  • Get signed invoices back to the office at the end of each day
  • Plan your drop order with the dispatch clerk each morning
  • Manage your assistant on the truck and share the offloading
  • Fill in the trip sheet with kilometres, fuel and stops
  • Collect cash or cheques on COD deliveries and bank them correctly
  • Deliver to shops, sites and homes on your route

You'll need

  • Honest with cash and customer goods
  • Friendly and professional with customers
  • At least 2 years driving rigid trucks
  • Good knowledge of roads in and around the city

Extra points for

  • Experience on a sales-and-delivery route
  • Code 14 licence (a step up)
  • Crane or HIAB operator certificate

What you get

  • Delivery incentive per completed route
  • Overtime on month-end and peak days
  • Home every night
  • Company-paid PrDP renewals

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Brits really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: Code 10 licence and PrDP card copies, ID copy and proof of residence plus references from delivery or distribution jobs.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 6 working days, usually by phone.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • If your PrDP expires soon, renew it before applying. An expired PrDP is an automatic no.
  • Name the areas you know well. A driver who already knows the route saves the company money from day one.
