Job Description

Winter fire season is near, and a sawmill near White River needs crews ready. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a sawmill in White River. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What your day looks like

Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders

You'll need

Willing to work in remote areas
Valid ID
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires

Extra points for

Previous plantation or sawmill experience
