Tractor Driver (Grain Farm)

Big machines, long days in season: a wheat farm near Mbombela needs a skilled operator. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a wheat farm in Mbombela. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
• Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
• Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
• Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
• Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card

• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Reliable and sober on duty
• Available to live on or near the farm
• Can read job cards and spray instructions

• Combine harvester experience
• Basic mechanical skills
• Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips

• Overtime paid during planting and harvest
• Training on new machinery
• Farm housing with water and electricity

• List the machines you can drive and the implements you have used. Farmers want to know if you can plant, spray or harvest on day one.
• A reference from a previous farmer is gold. Ask for it before you leave any farm job.
