Forestry Worker (Plantation Planting)

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for an eucalyptus plantation in the hills near Gqeberha. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at an eucalyptus plantation in Gqeberha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
• Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
• Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
• Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
• Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw

• Available for early starts and fire-season standby
• Passes the medical check for fire crews
• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Willing to work in remote areas

• Chainsaw and fire training at no cost
• Full safety gear provided
• Crew transport to plantations

• Say you are fit and do not mind remote sites. Many applicants drop out after the first week, so recruiters test commitment.
• If you have a chainsaw ticket, put it at the top. Certified operators earn more and are hired first.
