Pruning and Thinning Crew Worker – Immediate Start

Hard, outdoor work on a fire protection association near East London, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in East London, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
• Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
• Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
• Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
• Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks

• Available for early starts and fire-season standby
• Willing to work in remote areas
• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Valid ID
• Passes the medical check for fire crews

• Chainsaw operator certificate
• Previous plantation or sawmill experience
• First-aid training

• If you have a chainsaw ticket, put it at the top. Certified operators earn more and are hired first.
