Forklift and Tractor Driver (Farm Shed) – Permanent

Big machines, long days in season: a maize and soya farm near Paarl needs a skilled operator. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a maize and soya farm in Paarl. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
• Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
• Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
• Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
• Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
• Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed

• Basic understanding of implements and settings
• Can read job cards and spray instructions
• Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Available to live on or near the farm

• Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
• Combine harvester experience

• Harvest bonus at season end
• Overtime paid during planting and harvest
• Training on new machinery
• Farm housing with water and electricity
