Job Description

Crops do not wait, and a deciduous fruit orchard near Khayelitsha needs extra hands this season. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Khayelitsha-based, with most of your time spent at a deciduous fruit orchard. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
Move irrigation pipes and check drippers for blockages
Weed beds by hand or with a hoe

Must-haves

Willing to start at sunrise
Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
Valid ID or work permit
Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
