Foundation Phase Teacher (Grade 1) – Entry Level

A rural combined school in Brits needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a rural combined school in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
• Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them

• Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase

• Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
• Coaching experience in a major school sport
• Experience with remedial or inclusive education

• School holidays in line with the school calendar
• Housing allowance for SGB and state-funded posts where it applies
• Paid SACE CPTD workshops

• Add your matric results or pass rates for your classes if they improved; hard numbers beat adjectives.
