Foundation Phase Teacher (Grade 1)

A low-fee private school in Harrismith needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a low-fee private school on the Harrismith side of Free State. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
• Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them
• Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
• Meet parents to discuss progress, behaviour and support plans

• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)

• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
• Coaching experience in a major school sport

• Bring a short sample lesson to the interview; many schools ask you to teach for 15 minutes.
