Foundation Phase Teacher (Grade 1)

Teach at a rural combined school in Somerset West where your planning, marking and patience all count. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a rural combined school on the Somerset West side of Western Cape.

• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
• Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
• Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP
• Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines

• Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)

• Honours degree in your subject or in education management
• Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
