Job Description

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for an insurance company software team in Sandton. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is an insurance company software team on the Sandton side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

Must-haves

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Experience writing automated tests
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Nice if you have

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Docker and Kubernetes experience
