Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a fintech start-up in Umlazi. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a fintech start-up in Umlazi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

The work, day to day

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments

You'll need

Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
