Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: a fintech start-up in Rosslyn. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Rosslyn. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

What you need

You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
