Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the civil engineering consultancy in Bellville needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Bellville. Relocation is not covered for this one.

The work, day to day

Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

What you need

BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
