Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the structural design practice in Kuruman needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a structural design practice on the Kuruman side of Northern Cape.

The work, day to day

Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

Must-haves

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision

Nice if you have

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
