Job Description

Parents at this primary school aftercare programme in Montague Gardens trust you with their children every morning. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a primary school aftercare programme on the Montague Gardens side of Western Cape.

What you'll actually do

Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day

What you need

Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
Paediatric first aid certificate
Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
Warm, patient and energetic with small children
ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one

Helpful, not essential

Experience with children with special needs
Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
