Grader Operator (Road Construction) – Fixed-Term

The bulk earthworks contractor in Mokopane needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Mokopane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket

• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill

• Certificates on more than one machine type
• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge
• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work

• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
