Grape Harvest Worker (Wine Farm) – Entry Level

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a citrus farm near Cape Town CBD through the season. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a citrus farm.

• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety

• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Valid ID or work permit
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Living on or near the farm
• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees

• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
