Guest Room Attendant (Lodge)

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a game lodge in Khayelitsha. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a game lodge in Khayelitsha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries

• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Grade 10 or matric
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season

• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
